AMBFA (Ambassador & Smart Fashion) tailor shop front on Sukhumvit Soi 19, Bangkok, with suits on display in the window

#1 AMBFA Tailor

About the Tailor

A fourth-generation family tailoring house in Asoke, AMBFA Tailor has been cutting suits in Bangkok since the 1960s and tops our list for buyers who want true bespoke rather than a quick made-to-measure job. Jackets are built with canvas construction instead of fused interlining, the fabric library runs to more than 6,000 imported cloths, and the process is fitting-led, with time allowed for adjustments between visits. It is not the cheapest option on this list or the fastest; it is the pick if fit, cloth and construction matter more to you than speed.

#2 Perry Tailors

About the Tailor

Perry’s has worked from the same second-floor premises on Silom Road since July 1974, and is now run by twin brothers Phonchai and Narong. It is one of the city’s long-standing family bespoke houses, with most of its cloth imported from European mills such as Dormeuil, Ermenegildo Zegna and Loro Piana. Expect a classic, unhurried process rather than a quick turnaround; it suits buyers who want traditional tailoring in the Silom business district.

A good choice for weddings and special events, or anyone investing in a suit built to last.

#6 Gentle Rams

About the Tailor

Its house style blends Italian and British tailoring with a modern twist — look out for its slightly wider lapels — and the cut is adapted to Bangkok’s heat. Alongside suits it sells Italian accessories and leather shoes, so it suits buyers who want a complete, styled look rather than a suit alone.

Each garment is cut from an individual pattern made to your measurements, using fabrics imported from abroad, and the shop shows much of its work on Instagram. It is away from the central Sukhumvit and Silom tailoring areas and not near a BTS line, so it suits people living in east Bangkok or those happy to travel for a personal fit.

How We Select & Review Tailors

Transparent about what this ranking is — and isn't.

This list is built from research, not sponsorship: published customer reviews, public pricing where available, and recurring patterns across independent write-ups. We have not personally visited every shop on this list yet, and we say so plainly rather than implying first-hand testing we haven't done — as the site grows, in-person visits and verified pricing will replace research-based entries.

We weigh four things for every shop, including AMBFA: pricing transparency (published or consistently reported rates vs. negotiate-on-the-spot), turnaround time relative to the type of work, consistency of service across multiple independent reviews, and how well the shop's specialty matches what it's known for (bespoke, budget, shirts, women's tailoring, and so on). AMBFA is evaluated against these same four criteria as every other shop here — it is not ranked #1 by default, and where it appears reflects that scoring, not ownership of this site.

Full detail on our process lives on the About & Methodology page.

FAQ

What makes a tailor truly "bespoke" vs. made-to-measure?

A bespoke suit is cut from a paper pattern drafted from scratch for your body, then built over several fittings where the tailor adjusts the garment on you. Better bespoke jackets use a canvas interlining (full or half canvas) that moulds to your shape over time. Made-to-measure starts from an existing block pattern that is altered to your measurements, usually with fewer fittings and often a fused (glued) interlining. Many Bangkok shops use the word "bespoke" for made-to-measure work, so ask whether your pattern is drafted from scratch, how many fittings are included and whether the jacket is canvassed or fused.

How much does a bespoke suit cost in Bangkok?

Price depends mostly on the cloth and the construction. A genuine bespoke two-piece with good imported cloth typically starts from around ฿15,000–฿25,000, and suits in premium European cloth from mills such as Loro Piana, Zegna or Dormeuil can cost ฿45,000 or more. At the premium end, AMBFA Tailor's bespoke suits start from about US$350–$700 depending on fabric. Always ask for an itemised quote that names the fabric mill and the construction before you pay a deposit. See our price guide.

How many fittings does a bespoke suit require?

Plan for at least two to three fittings. The first is a basted fitting, where the loosely tacked garment is adjusted on your body. The second is a forward fitting with most of the construction done, and the last is for final details such as sleeve length and trouser break. Most Bangkok tailors can fit these into five to seven days for visitors, but a slower schedule usually gives a better result, so book your first appointment early in your trip.

Can bespoke tailors in Bangkok ship internationally?

Yes, most established bespoke tailors in Bangkok ship finished garments overseas, and many keep your pattern on file so you can re-order by email or WhatsApp without another visit. Some also hold trunk shows abroad. AMBFA Tailor, for example, visits Europe and the USA for fittings with returning clients. Ask about shipping cost, delivery time and import duties for your country before ordering, and request final adjustments in person before you fly home if you can.
