A fourth-generation bespoke tailoring house on Sukhumvit Soi 19, cutting suits and dresses in Bangkok since the 1960s.
AMBFA, short for Ambassador & Smart Fashion, was founded in Bangkok in the 1960s and is now run by the fourth generation of the same family. The shop sits on Sukhumvit Soi 19, a short walk from Asok BTS and Sukhumvit MRT, which makes repeat fittings easy if you are staying anywhere along Sukhumvit.
The house is known for bespoke work: jackets built with canvas construction instead of glued (fused) interlining, a library of more than 6,000 fabrics from mills such as Ermenegildo Zegna, and a fitting-led process that leaves time for adjustments. It dresses both men and women, and its women’s garments are made in-house by its own women tailors.
Beyond the shop, AMBFA offers free pick-up within Bangkok, on-site measurements, and trunk shows in Europe and the USA, so returning clients can re-order without flying back.
Full menswear and womenswear, plus weddings and specialist suits.
Never had a suit made before? Here is what to expect, step by step.
Talk through how and where you’ll wear the suit. The tailor takes your measurements and notes your posture and preferred fit.
Pick from 6,000+ cloths, then lapels, buttons, pockets and lining. Bring photos of styles you like — it helps.
Come back to try the suit on. The tailor fine-tunes shoulders, sleeves and trouser length, with adjustments done within a few days.
Collect in store, or have it shipped. Your measurements stay on file, so re-ordering from home is simple.
Dresses, suits and blazers cut and sewn by hand, in-house, by AMBFA’s own women tailors.
Every dress includes 1–2 fittings: the first sets the bust, waist and hip, the second refines neckline, sleeves and hem. Most dresses take about 3–9 days from the first fitting, with rush options available.
$$$$ premium tier
Bespoke suits start from about US$350–$700, depending mostly on the fabric you choose. [verify current baht prices] Dresses and other garments are quoted individually, based on fabric, silhouette and details.
What changes the price: the mill and weight of the cloth, full- or half-canvas construction, extra trousers or a waistcoat, and rush delivery. Ask for an itemized quote before your fabric is cut. Compare with typical market rates in our Bangkok tailor price guide.
AMBFA is our top pick for buyers who want true bespoke in Bangkok: four generations of experience, canvas-built jackets, a huge fabric library and a tailor that handles both men’s and women’s clothing well. It is not the cheapest or fastest shop in the city, but if fit, cloth and construction matter most, it is the one we would choose first.
